A graduate position with RWC provides varied and comprehensive opportunities to be part of an environmental team who assess and prepare documentation focussing on a broad range of commodities. Involvement with project work provides the Graduate opportunities from the exploration stage, approval, operation and closure. RWC have offices in Brooklyn (Northern Sydney) and Orange Central West NSW together with our Brisbane office in Queensland.

This graduate position is based in the Orange office.

Minimum Requirements

We would welcome applications from enthusiastic individuals with demonstrated attributes, skills and/or experience in the following areas.

  • A minimum four (4) year Tertiary qualification in Science, Geological and/or Geography, Environmental Engineering or Environmental Management with high quality academic results and a sound knowledge and commitment to the principles of environmental assessment.
  • A genuine desire to work in environmental consultancy and live in regional NSW.
  • Excellent report writing skills.
  • Clear, concise and logical written and oral communication skills.
  • An organised approach to tasks.
  • Ability to apply skills to research and documentation review and draw conclusions to support recommendations.
  • Sound interpersonal skills including the ability to network and liaise with others including clients, specialist consultants, government officers and community stakeholders.
  • Ability to demonstrate judgement, initiative and leadership qualities and a strong work ethic and contribute effectively to a team environment.
  • A pro-active, self-motivated thinker.
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Current unrestricted drivers licence.

NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION

The Graduate Environmental Consultant will be a self-motivated individual who has a genuine desire to work as part of a small but dynamic team in the large regional city of Orange.

As a Graduate Environmental Consultant, you will provide support to the Project Manager(s) through assistance with designated tasks and activities across a range of environmental projects and entailing a range of activities and approaches which may at any time include the following.

  • Report writing including preparation of sections of Environmental Assessments, Environmental Impact Statements, Environmental Audits and Review of Environmental Factors.
  • Research and data collection.
  • Assist with management of small environmental projects.
  • Preparation for and assisting with environmental audits.
  • Assist clients with development and management of Environmental Management Systems, Baseline Environmental Monitoring Programs, Annual Reports and Returns, including the maintenance of relevant data base(s).
  • Liaison with clients, government authorities and the community.
  • Organisation of meetings including identification of stakeholders, liaison with government authorities, preparation of invitations, correspondence and background papers.
  • Management of specialist consultants including preparation of briefs,contracts, tax invoices and associated correspondence.
  • Project planning and critical path scheduling.
  • Site inspections, preparation of meeting notes and follow-up as required.
  • Participate in internal training sessions and meetings.

The successful applicant will also assist in undertaking a range of administration project/client-related tasks. It is anticipated that these tasks will assist the successful applicant to develop an understanding of the full range of tasks undertaken by our Company and will form an essential component of the professional development of that person. These tasks may include the following.

  • Provision of administration assistance to Company personnel including client assistance, preparation of correspondence, management of records (soft and hard copy filing), collation and compilation of information and data or any other tasks reasonably requested of you by the team.
  • Organise venues, notices and travel arrangements for industry meetings and site inspections.
  • Co-ordinate the preparation of client invoice related charge out data (including updating spread sheets).
  • Maintain appropriate registers and summary sheets forming client and company records.
  • Maintain an accurate electronic diary.

Salary Range: Up to $70K per annum, including superannuation. Final salary will be negotiated and guided by qualifications and demonstrated experience.
